Entrepreneur Visa
Introduction
If you speak good English and intend to run a genuine and credible business in UK, you can apply for an entrepreneur visa. The Home Office will grant this visa if it considers the business will add benefits to UK economy.
Who is eligible?
- You must have funds of 200,000 for business investment in UK
- Pass English language test or with an English degree met Home Office’s requirements
- Have enough funds to support yourself (and your family) in UK
In addition:
- If you are applying within the UK, you must apply to switch prior to the expiry of your current visa.
- If a visa is granted, you can only work for yourself and cannot work for other business.
- You must use the funds to start a business or invest in an existing business
- You must register a company as a director.
- You dependant can work for other employers.
- Your company cannot engage in property management or property development.
- You must employ two workers with settled status before you renew your visa.
- You and your dependants must spend at least 180 days every year during the visa period
How long can you stay?
The length of the initial entrepreneur visa is 3 year and 4 months.
Notes on Entrepreneur visa route
- Entrepreneur visa is considered to be a very difficult route because the average success rate is only about 40%.
- Instructing an immigration adviser to help with your application is highly recommended due to the low success rate of this visa category.
- Interviews with Home Office is also the key part to the application. Although you might not be asked to attend an interview, you should still be familiar with your business plan in case you are contacted for attending an interview.
